Mercer Island Girl Scouts is a community of 300 girls and 30 troops. We are called "Service Unit 430" and are part of the Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) and part of Girls Scout of the United States (GSUSA). The Service Unit plans and runs monthly events, philanthropy and twice yearly weekend camping overnights for all the troops. We also manage the cookie selling process and the formation of new troops each year.
The Service Unit communicates to the community through this website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and through email blasts. The Service Unit Manager runs monthly meetings for leaders and participates in larger meetings with GSWW. Other positions in the Executive Team include Treasurer, Communications, Encamporee Director/Outdoor Champion, Recruitment/Community Engagement, Cookie/Fall Product Team, Event Manager, Philanthropy Lead, and Delegate to the GSWW Annual Convention. A NOMINATING COMMITTEE is being formed with the goal of having the Executive Committee positions slated for 2021-2022 by mid April 2021. We also have the opportunity for anyone in Mercer Island Girl Scout community to self-nominate for any position. If you'd like to join the nominating committee, please contact Kathy McDonald at [email protected]. If you'd like to SELF-NOMINATE for any position, please fill out this form. Thank you for considering a volunteer position with Mercer Island Girl Scouts.
