Thanks to Class of 2021 Troop 42701 and MIHS Senior Eden Voss, Mercer Island Girl Scouts enjoyed a calligraphy workshop on Feb. 26th. Participants also received a free kit prior to the workshop. What fun!

Thanks, Lori D, for leading the GNOMS/Fun Friday January Event teaching everyone how to make Ina Garten's Lemon Sunshine Bread! Girls learned fancy cooking terms like Mise en Place and even did some Mindfulness Practice at the end! Thanks, Lori D!
Hey Girl Scouts, We've all been surviving the pandemic in our own way. What are your favorite things you've done with Girl Scouts at Home?
Mercer Island Girl Scouts is a community of 300 girls and 30 troops. We are called "Service Unit 430" and are part of the Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) and part of Girls Scout of the United States (GSUSA). The Service Unit plans and runs monthly events, philanthropy and twice yearly weekend camping overnights for all the troops. We also manage the cookie selling process and the formation of new troops each year.
The Service Unit communicates to the community through this website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and through email blasts. The Service Unit Manager runs monthly meetings for leaders and participates in larger meetings with GSWW. Other positions in the Executive Team include Treasurer, Communications, Encamporee Director/Outdoor Champion, Recruitment/Community Engagement, Cookie/Fall Product Team, Event Manager, Philanthropy Lead, and Delegate to the GSWW Annual Convention. A NOMINATING COMMITTEE is being formed with the goal of having the Executive Committee positions slated for 2021-2022 by mid April 2021. We also have the opportunity for anyone in Mercer Island Girl Scout community to self-nominate for any position. If you'd like to join the nominating committee, please contact Kathy McDonald at [email protected]. If you'd like to SELF-NOMINATE for any position, please fill out this form. Thank you for considering a volunteer position with Mercer Island Girl Scouts. It's cookie time! Pre-order season is done (ended 2/7/21) and those cookies should hit Mercer Island by Feb. 27 and be in the hands of eager cookie eaters soon thereafter. While we are sad not to have any booth sales at grocery stores this year, cookies can be bought from the Digital Storefront of many local girl scouts through March! Please enjoy and remember...Thin Mints can last up to 2 years in the freezer so stock up!
The 30 troops and 300 girls who make up Mercer Island Girl Scouts are always doing "Cool Things!" Watch this blog space to learn what we are up to. You will be amazed at what you see! Our girls are learning, leading and shaping the world as they see it! Troops who want to submit something to the Blog, can do so by filling out this Blog Form. Thanks!
