On Going Opportunities for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors
Service to Girl Scouting Bar | Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts
How to earn this leadership award Volunteer at least 20 hours with Girl Scouts—outside of your normal troop activities—and receive the Service to Girl Scouting Bar! Your service doesn’t need to be pre-approved, just work with an adult Girl Scout volunteer to make a plan for your service. Once you’ve completed your hours, you will receive your award pin from the Mercer Island Service Unit at our next event or celebration. Activities organized by the MI Girl Scouts Community Service team are eligible for hours, in addition to whatever volunteering for Girl Scouts, like assisting troops with investitures or bridging ceremonies, leading songs or activities, etc you may arrange independently. NOTE - hours can be applied to ONE award only. For example, Take Action projects, badge work, or Silver and Gold award projects cannot be applied toward these leadership awards.
Please return the form attached below (a scan is fine) to [email protected] upon completing 20 hours of service to Girl Scouts.

Leaf Raking @ MI Presbyterian Church
Saturday, November 6 - Give one hour between 8am and noon!
Did you know Mercer Island Presbyterian Church supports MI Scouts by providing free storage space and meeting spaces? Leaders, it's not too late to request space!
To thank them for their generosity, please sign up to participate in their annual leaf raking event on Saturday, November 6th. Volunteer slots are available in hour increments, but you are welcome at anytime from 8am-12pm. Those huge grounds, terrific for scout meetings and events!, need some TLC! Please wear sturdy boot and bring work gloves, rakes, leaf blowers, wheel barrows, etc. The church will provide doughnuts and hot chocolate!

Santa Scouts Donation Deadline November 15 For more than 10 years, Mercer Island Girl Scouts have partnered with Mercer Island Youth and Family Services to support local families with holiday donations of goods and financial support. Continuing COVID protocols dictate that we focus our efforts on the collection of gift cards and direct financial support in any amount for distribution by MIYFS. Troop and/or individual scout participation is welcome! Troops or individuals may purchase gift cards (suggestions include Amazon, Target, or Fred Meyer), place them in an envelope marked “Service Unit 430 - Holiday Santa Scouts” and deliver them to the white drop box located in the City Hall parking lot. Troops or individuals may make an online cash donation to MIYFS that will be directed to the Holiday or Emergency Assistance Program. |
